Week 1 Sertraline completed

Posted , 3 users are following.

I've just finished my first week of Sertraline 50mg. . My taste has changed and I'm off dairy including milk! The first 3-4 days have been hard to the point i stayed in bed from Friday until this morning which is a significant slump even for me.

I was px'd it for depression/anxiety. How long do most people start getting good results from it? Today I've felt a little better.. The anxiety has been in peaks and waves rather than an all on assault and my mood seems a little brighter..

Am i being too optimistic? Is it perhaps too early after just one week for this to be working?  I'm hoping to get to a place where I can summons the energy to get more active and return to some of the things i used to enjoy before becoming poorly.

thanks smile

Yes Sertraline is hard to get going. So many different sideeffects an everyone is different. Im on Day 14 & first 7-8 days anxiety or heart racing was bad. Now Iv been getting various muscle pain an stomach hurting. Some diaherra but Lopramide can handle that. Im on 50mg an half it take half n am an half n pm. I can't handle the whole pill at once. Iv taken Sertraline a yr ago an it gave me severe diaherra an loss of appetite. I lost 20 lbs an was almost anorexic! Also felt like I had the flu an liver enzymes went up to the 50's. Normal enzymes are below 30's. So had to stop it after just 2 1/2 mnths. Weaned off in 2 wks. Just had brain zaps. Then the anxiety and depression came back two mnths later bad. Went on Lexapro for 3 mnths. @10mg. Max for it is 20mg. But it really did nothing except make me fat an sleepy all time. So went back to Sertraline an giving it a try again. Is anyone getting muscle aches and pains? Liver issues? Might have to stop again if muscles keep on hurtin. Cant take it. I want to walk but don't feel good. Also watching for dehydration an magnesium an potassium levels. Hope it helps you!

    Hi Zio

I'm sorry you've been having such a rough time with meds and i hope that you find the right combination that suits you soon.  Its hard for me to attribute any pains to sertraline because it's always been a symptom of my depression / anxiety.  I take my 50mg at night and become immediately tired.. I wouldn't be able to take it am because of this.

Will the GP monitor my bloods? I'm suprised this wasn't done before the meds were started. Thanks for the tip re hydration.. Ive been trying to ensure i drink more water.

i think yesterday i may have jumped the gun as I woke up early today on a down.. What a merry go round we are all on!

i hope you wake today to muscles that are less sore and start to feel better x

I've just found finished my first week too. First 3 days I was bedridden with panic attacks. Couldn't eat or keep anything down for 4 days. Dr gave me some anti sickness and diazepam. Worked a treat. No appetite still but I'm at least managing 2 small meals a day and out of bed. Went to work yest and did ok. Forcing myself to go for a stroll and not take day naps has really helped mood too. I'm starting to feel an improvement in the side effects to hope you do too

    hello

6 weeks for me to see the differnace, however some only 2 weeks and some longer, all depends on the individual, i was bed ridden for 4 weeks which was not good because it made me very weak and dizzy, i couldnt stand for 2 weeks and had to ween myself into getting around the house and garden, 6 months on and still have bad days but most days are good and the bad are no way like the beggining, regarding eating, i lost 2 stone in 1 month, but everything started to return to normal around 6 week point.take care
