Week 11 and feel spaced out

hi all, new to this but need to talk with people in same shoes. im on week 11 fluoxetine and week 6 of being on 40mg. additionally 4 weeks ago i was put on promazine low dose antipsychotic for anxiety. i feel spaced out a lot and feel helpless a lot. i am constantly tired and not much use to anyone. im currently off work but they understand. i struggle at the best of times to relax but just can get to a comfortable place on these tablets. always feel a bit off with occasional bursts of happiness which is usually in the morning or late evening when medication waring off. if anyone has any words of wisdom id greatly appreciate it as never had such strong thoughts of hanging myself as i have since being on psychiatric drugs.

    Hi

Those random spells of happiness should gradually increase. I too look forward to the evenings as like you said they seem a little easier. Ring the Samaritans so you can share your thoughts. A problem shared is a problem halved. Keep a diary and monitor your highs and lows. Hope your meds kick in soon. Its a slow process but you will get there.

hi. thanks so much for taking time to respond. i guess i need to consciously settle and permit myself to feel crap through the days. i have been journaling a little and even doing poetry and done two drawings haha. im also growing my beard which is mildly therapeutic. but on a serious note the suicidal ideation is ridiculous and scary as hell. have a nice christmas x

    Hello

Dont worry the fluoxetine takes its time, I am on week 12, started with 20m then increased to 40m 54 days ago, I also felt like that a good day and then back to several not so good days, then I started getting better evenings, and then afternoon and evenings, until suddenly the whole day felt better, every one is different, I am friendly with a lady who has been on fluoxetine for 4 months and she still isnt better, for some people it can take up to six months or longer, I think the instructions are mis leading when it says it can take up to six weeks to feel the full benefit, that is very few people, not many people get better that fast, you may have blips, but properly better is when the low mood has gone and you can concentrate again, and enjoy doing things that you enjoyed before, I had every side effect twice at the start and when the dose was increased, I couldnt sleep and I barely eaten anything for six weeks lost almost 3 stone, also had very bad shakes, but I kept fighting, some days not moving from my chair.

You will get there but try and keep telling yourself you will get better, and you will.

thanks so much for responding. i tried to respond yesterday but was too busy with family and eating rediculous amounts of chocolate on christmas day. boxing day is usually more.of the same.so thought id send a quick message now. your message has helped set my expectations at the right level for length of time for flu to work. it was something i was able to reflect on yesterday when i was having mini wobbles. i just again want to say you are amazing and have a good day.

    Hello

I've been on ZOLOFT for 2 weeks then PROZAC for 5 weeks now. NO relief yet. Receptors don't respond quickly. So slow response.

Doc also tried to give me a small dose of Antipsychotics, Abilify, Latuda, Resperadon. I had horrible experiences with them feeling I'm not myself. Doc gave up Antipsychotic for me.

    Hi All,

I find myself in week 5 of my fluoxetine journey and reading these posts is providing me with some much needed comfort. I was having a couple of good days and then all of a sudden I was hit with really bad ringing in my ears which is stopping me from sleeping.

This is listed as a side effect for the meds but im wondering if you have experienced this and whether it cleared up? Im really worried it wont go away 😦

    Thank you,

    Chris
