Week 2 on reduction of sertraline

So I am on week 2 of reducing my sertraline 150mg tablets. Started last sunday accidentally took 50mg instead of 100mg and initially I was tired all day. Got back on it and my worst day was last Wednesday i was down for the whole day and couldn't shift it. Anyone have any tips especially when coming off to help with tiredness and I just want to come straight off but I know that is a bad idea?

Do NOT come straight off. I've done cold turkey from 100mg to nothing the next day, and after a week, boy did I full the terrible side effects. What you need to do is taper very, very slowly. Work with a doc on this. But this is how I would do this. Depending how long you have been on this med, the longer you've been on it, the longer it will take you to taper to reduce it. Personally, if I were to do it, I would start by taking 150mg one day and 100mg every other day for 6 months. Then I would take 100mg one day for 6 months, then I would take 100mg one day and 50mg every other day for another 6 months. Finally, I would take 50mg daily for another 6 months. The reason is because I've been on this med a long, long time. You can do it much quicker if you've med on this med for a much shorter period, but the quicker you taper, the worse the side effects.

Also, if you want to taper, it helps to be in the best shape of your life, physically, mentally, and emotionally. That helps a lot!

    Hey

I'm on Day 15 of withdrawal and just wrote a massive (probably boring!) post about it! There might be some stuff in it that could help though!
