Week 4 Blip on 10 mg?
Posted , 4 users are following.
I initially started taking Citalopram for anxiety and OCD which has caused insomnia.
First couple of weeks were hell but by the third week I was feeling better mentally and my sleep has started to improve. I'm four weeks into it and now the anxiety and sleeplessness(waking up every hour and a half) has come back. is this normal?

I was sleeping very well at first now on week 6 I weak up a couple of times each night so i suppose it can happen. It seems anything can happen while starting citalopram.
Also your dose is very low so maybe another chat with the gp could be useful.

You may find you will be up
and down for a few weeks. Some great days, some bad, some that make you feel like you are going in reverse full pelt. It truly is a roller coaster of a ride and it requires so much patience. I finally settled around 6 months. With help from a therapist, diazepam, mindfulness, family support, audio books. I needed all of this as well as citalopram to get me through & still need it now at times.
I still have days where anxiety comes over me, but I am at peace with it & I think that truly stops it from manifesting into something more. I never want to be were I was in July again 😦
Good luck, the blips come and go but you will learn to control them and soon they will diminish. 😃

6 months is a long time to wait to settle down but as long as its not forever, i can live with the anxiety just not the sleeplessness. I'm glad that it works for you but thanks for the reply

elijah,
Start a journal and you can look back and you'll see how you are progressing. It took me 7 months to fully recover. I'm at 10 mg.

Hi Will, that's actually a really good idea, I'll give that a go, also glad to hear you've fully recovered.
