Week 4 - new pain

Hi, I am just in week 4 (once over 10 days I really turned a corner and was feeling much better) but now I am having awful pain right at the top of my thigh at the front when I lie down. I am only getting a few hours sleep then it wakes me up and I cannot stay in bed. I feel like I am going backwards with my recovery! I only get relief by sitting, walking doesn't hurt so why would I get pain from laying down? I've tried elevating my leg but it doesn't help.
Has anyone else experienced this? I am so tired and this is making me feel down.
Thanks, Helen

Hi, I have the same thing and it's my iliopsoas tendon. My new hip is to blame apparently. They also suspect that my implant is loose. I'd ask for an ultrasound. Good luck with your recovery and I hope the tendon settles down.

Hi, I'll try more pillows! I'll try anything. I've not got an appointment with him until week 6

Setbacks are all too common. Yours sounds like it could be something not knitting back where it should be,possibly scar tissue preventing a nerve or muscle sitting right.
I had lots of extra sports physio on my last recovery to help things settle in the right place, she could feel the tight muscles and free them off.
Hope it's nothing serious and you get sorted soon

Ashore I had spasms in my top muscles for the 1st month or so and massaging helped but really it's a waiting game. A muscle relaxant might help. I just endured it rather than add to my long list of tablets.
I was signed off on Thursday at week 9 but still have some muscle tightness which my consultant said would go in time as my body gets used to the new way of walking. I used to walk with my foot slightly outward facing but now it's straight ahead- happy days .
