Week 4 of Prozac

Posted , 3 users are following.

I just started week 4 of prozac. My anxiety has gotten SO much better and I haven't had an anxiety attack in weeks. The past couple of days my depression has worsened. I know it's normal for depression and anxiety to get worse before it gets better on SSRI's but it only started getting worse at like week 4. Is this normal and should I expect it to get better or should I consider changing SSRI's? Thank you for the support!!!

    Hi Katie!

Four weeks isn't all that long to be on prozac. I would give it more time, especially since your anxiety has gotten better. The depression should follow soon. The process is a series of waves, it get gradually better then worse, then even better. I think youll be just fine with a little more time!

If things dont look up I would consider a higher dose instead of switching meds, especially if you dont have too many side effects. Your doctor would likely put you on 40mg. Good luck!

Since you have had such good results re: anxiety, I would concentrate on that positive for a few days and not do any switching of meds. Of course, keep your doctor in the loop. Best of luck. Sounds like you are making progress. Remember . .. one step at a time ☺
