Week 6 and feelings of anxiety creeping back in after feeling good

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hi all,

Looking for other people's experiences. I've been on sertraline going into my 7th week now on 50mg. I felt really good in the 4th and 5th weeks but I'm now feeling anxious sensations coming back, sadness and really strong depersonalisation which feeds the anxiety. Have others felt a dip like this? Is it a phase? Nervous to up the dose when I see my GP on Mon as I start supply teaching on Thurs and I need the money :-/

Thanks!

Hey, I've been on 50mg for 5 weeks and my 4th week was as you state above, settled again now.  Anxiety, mood and sadness were all way back up there but it did pass.

      Hi Jamie,

Thanks for that. Maybe it feels worse because I felt like I was doing so well by the 5th week sad

Just stick with it and it'll pass!  I've been doing some mindfullness excercises and they're helping me.

Hi Clare - I'm 3 months in now and I have very, very occasional days when my anxiety tries to rear it's ugly head but I find some deep breathing and mindfulness is really helpful and sorts it out for me - talk to your gp about it though, I did try and up the dosage from 50 to 100 mg at around 4-5 weeks when I was at a similar place to yourself but soon came back to 50 as I felt too sedated and, as I say, any anxiety now is very rare and easily dealt with.   Hope all goes well for you.

      Thanks Susan,

That's really helpful to hear. I should probably keep sticking it out for now. I'm nowhere near as bad as I was it's just like a lot of the side effects I thought I'd dealt with are now resurfacing and they are what's feeding the anxiety arrgh. The most unpleasant one being that feeling that I'm not all there.

      Hi again Susan!

It's such good news that you're feeling better smile Do you feel like your old self now at 3 months? When you get the anxiety does something trigger it or is it out of the blue?

Hi there - yes I do feel very much like my old self, my husband and those who know me all comment on how lovely it is to see me back to my old self - I feel better than I have in years.   The anxiety can be a little of both I think but I can bring it back under control so well, for instance i woke this morning feeling a little blue yet I bounced back to wellness very quickly . . . I think this is the best anti-depressant med I've taken, and I've taken a few over the years, the big bonus for me is that I feel this well on such a low dose, really, really hope this will work for you too xxx
