Week 6 on sertraline and heart racing

Hi. New to this forum. I’m in my 6th week on sertraline.  Felt great weeks 3 & 4 but for the past couple of weeks my heart has been racing. I’m ok during the day but the palpitations start early evening. Will they stop??

You don't say how high your dose is but my guess is prob one week at 25mg and then 50mg the last 4 weeks. You may need to increase...speak to your doctor. Have you tried deep breathing. The palpitations will go away..I know they are horrible.

    Take care

Thank you. I’m currently on 50mg. A bit wary about upping the dose though. Will ride it out for another couple of weeks and fingers crossed it’ll get easier.

Don't beat yourself up if you have to increase. 50mg is very low. If you do increase only go up 25mg at a time. Good Luck

Hi Margaret. My heart did that to plus i had anxiety attacks. Around week 8 if I'm remembering correctly it started to fall in place, meaning I felt the difference in everything. But if you have a really stressful situation u might have some anxiety. I'm on 50 and going on week 17. The other day was super stressful with family issues and bam anxiety kicked in. I know i will have to increase to 75 but waiting till July. But it is really not as severe as before zoloft. Hope you start feeling better soon and i know you will.

Thank you Brenda.  You’ve given me inspiration to stick with it!  Time will tell.
