Weight and withdrawal

I have been on Mirtazapine for about 18 months, it worked in terms of sleeping but I have gained 3 stone in weight, I can't shift it, I find myself eating foods that I would nevr have dreamt of before, my appetite has changed and I look pregnant with people often asking me if I am pregnant!  This in istelf causes me to feel low, I don't want to go out, buy clothes have isolated myself as I have never been so big in all my life.  People might think this is shallow but I honestly cannot go on feeling so self-loathing.

I have read all the withdrawals and am going to GP tomorrow to ask to come off and hopefully brave it out.

Good luck Shirley the good thing I found was the weight soon dropped off I didn't realise & thought by being carefull of what I was eating was actually working so mentally it was a very good feeling,I only use them occasionally if I've had a bad night , so just as a sleeping tablet, pleased you are going to the Drs.

Thank you Margaret, had I known how bad withdrawal is I would have thought twice before accepting them, although I think I was very low at the time and wouldn't have thought about it.  Thinking back they did help with my sleep and through some difficult times but I feel I need to take back control.  How was withdrawal for you?  Or becuase you still use them ocassionally is it not as severe?
