Weight Gain

I'm so disgusted with myself. I just weighed myself and found that I gained 7 more pounds. I'm still on 18 mg of Prednisone and can't seem to go any lower without a GCA flare up.  I've never had a weight problem because I've always been able to be active.  Uh. I just don't know how to handle seeing this overweight person in the mirror full of red spots from the Prednisone. Maybe I need a shrink. Ha ha. I wish "I"could shrink!

I hope you all are having a better mental day than I am! Thanks for letting me vent.

Thanks all for your responses.  Yes, it's good to know I am not alone in my pity boat.  I wish each and everyone of you a healthier 2017.  And, may we all have the strength to quit eating chips! I've been gluten free for months, but I have to constantly remind myself that gluten free does not equal calorie or preservative free.  Somethimes I feel like just eating only watermelon for a few days and see if I feel better.

Anyone live in the east central Florida area? It would be good to have a friend to laugh with at what we have to deal with.

interestingly, I ate a lot of watermelon (a natural diuretic) to try to reduce the fluid retention in my ankles last summer and believe that it worked. Celery was the other one I ate a lot of, but preferred the watermelon.

If you eat manufactured gluten-free food it isn't even "not calorie-free" - it is terriby calorie and carb dense! It used to horrify me when I read the labels!

Yes, that's true.  Some times I feel like I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't.  It's just best to shop on the outside perimeter of the grocery store where it's all basically fresh. I stayed away from carbs last night for a whole hour! Ha ha.  It's funny because when I tell myself no carbs, I crave them more!

i know what you mean! There have been time when I've binged on watermelon and my migraine has actually gotten better.  Must have been the potassium.

I've even considered going vegan, but all the meat-free item is full of so much preservative crap that it's scary!

Don't buy prepared foods.  The only prepared foods we buy these days are GMO free crackers, organic breakfast cereal and bread for hubby.  Everything else, including tinned beans or tomatoes we use as ingredients in cooking, is recognisably in its natural state.

If you miss the texture of meat plain tofu can be cooked in such a way as to make it have the same tooth feel as meat.  I'm not a vegan so enjoy halloumi, a cheese you can actually fry, and that is nice and chewy.

I went vegan once. After about three weeks I felt exhausted so packed it in. I try to operate on the unwrapped diet, I don't eat anything that is wrapped unless it is wrapped in paper.
