Weight gain

Posted , 2 users are following.

7 months post op and realized I have gained weight. A bit freaked out so I am thinking about going to gym more regularly using elliptical and weight light weights. I am hoping acting like I am more regular will help me get these extra pounds off. I have been pretty self limiting due to fear of injury or doing too much maybe too long. I will bear in mind knee but I think it’s time to try harder. I hope this helps me cause I know these extra lbs is doing tons of harm in every way imaginable sad

You start very slowly with no weight...build endurance first.  It takes time to rebuild the dead quads, glutes and core.  Time work and patience.

Thanks so much! I did go to the gym today and for first time did the elliptical instead of bike. It felt good to be back on it. I only did 30 minutes making sure glutes, quads, and hamstrings were being used. I also joined weight watchers lol hoping to rehaul my health now. Still do those heel slides too. Thanks for the link 😊

What we were never told is that this is a lifelong commitment.  Stop exercising and the quads go dead again and you can lose ROM.  See you at the gym...forever...

Back in 2015 (pre-TKR), I was out of control, especially my blood sugar.  My daughter is a graduate nutritionist from Rutgers and a personal trainer certified by the American College of Sports Medicine.  She started me on a product line called  P L E X U S...  I lost 57 pounds in 11 months and have kept it off.  Powder-into-water drink in the morning plus I take their probiotics and gut cleanse products.  Worked for me.  Just re-starting my exercise routine after 24 months of surgical hell (TKR, spine fusion, wrist surgery and spine laminectomy).  Including the metal hip and another fusion, sooner or later, you pay for 45 years of hockey...
