I'm almost totally free of side effects of gabapentin since coming off it nov17 .

    When I was on it I gained approx. 2+stone (US=to about 28lb-34lb)

Once I came off it,I lost the weight fairly quickly.

Each person is different,so hopefully others will advise you on their journey on this drug

I haven't, but it's a common side effect. I'd LIKE to blame the weight gain n the gab, but it was due to inactivity because of the pain from PHN and then a rib injury. I had hoped as I tapered down (I was at 2700, now 1000) that i'd see it drop, but it had no impact.

I did, and a host of other side effects.  Memory, confusion ,  burning in skin

Oh yes Mary I remember that well, along with other things including depression.tiredness, but unable to sleep, headaches...the list was endless

So glad I got off the nasty stuff.it should be banned.

And if that wasn't bad enough, the vet put my dog on it too.

Good luck arnelius, let's hope you're not on it for long.when the time comes to come off it,taper it slowly

I put on almost 2 stone (was on 2700mg gaba a day for 2 years) - although some of it was probably down to the gaba making me crave junk food, I also think there was some fluid retention in there. Thing is, it wasn't a side effect that seemed to be mentioned much at the time. Thankfully the weight is coming off now I've stopped taking the darn stuff.

I gained almost 40 lbs while I was on that medication. I stopped taking it after 17 months because I was so spaced out all the time. It did help my pain medication work longer but I wanted a medication that didn't take away from important things in my life...like spending time with my family. I take cymbalta in January...I don't get spaced out feeling anymore.
