i had my thr 18 months ago and found that immediately after the op i had lost a lot of weight.

however now I've put on about 2 stones and can't shift it even though I'm more active and try to control my diet.

not sure what the answer is.

so basically you have had two major surgeries all within 6 months, not long at all and no matter how mobile you are you still have a long way to go before your weight starts to drop off but it will, keep the walking up and maybe join a gym and basically watch your calorie intake.

its a bit like giving up smoking and finding yourself a stone overweight.

    good luck

Hi, I also gained quite a bit of weight during the time I had trouble with my hip. I was 50 by the time I had fully recovered from having a RTHR. I've found losing weight to be extremely difficult. My OB/GYN suggested that I have my blood tested to check my hormone levels. The test came back that I was Post Menopausal. I was told that once this happens, it's much more difficult to lose weight because the body needs far less calories to function normally.

    Hi,

Since the hip op in April, I put on weight and have been unable to lose it. I thought it was just me, as I walk everyday use my elliptical walker and do floor exercises most days I have been trying to work out why my body is not like pre- op. Maybe, it is not all my fault 😊.

I have started Pilates, step aerobics and zumba, so I should find out if I can lose it or if it is something else to do with op. 🏃

Perhaps it is muscle weight you have gained and not fat weight? Are your clothes looser or tighter, now that you are more active? If looser, hide the scales and keep active!

Be kind to yourself regardless. Eat well, rest and exercise in proportion.
