Hi ,

Im new to this forum, just wondering if anyone can shed some light on my weight gain.

Im 4 days over hip replacement surgery and was horrified to see this morning when i stood on the scales ive gained 9 lbs .

I have been eating minimal amount of food and have googled weight difference of bone removed to weight of artificial hip and discovered the difference is only 125 grms according to a study carried out in America.

Could be water retention from the swelling as a result of the surgery. This can go on for up to a year or so for some.

I have gained around 5 kg since my op. I'm pretty sure it's muscle mass. I don't suppose you would get that after 4 days though

I gained 9 pounds by day 4 of my THR. Could not believe what I was seeing on that scale! As soon as I started to have daily bowel movements, and was walking around the house a little every hour, that number went down pretty quickly. WHEW! 😃
