Weight Gain or Weight Loss

With me I completely lost my appetite and lost too much weight. I have heard these meds can also make you gain weight. Don't worry about gaining a few pounds just get yourself better first and then tackle the weight if you feel it's an issue.

I sincerely wish you well and if you fancy a little nibble go for it! The road of our illness is tough and anything that gets you down that road a little bit easier can't be bad xx but be careful on the alcohol as too much of it is not a good partnership with antidepressants. Xxx

You know I never realised I'd gained weight with Citalopram as I've always been on the slim side and never had to watch what I ate.  I have gained a bit of weight over the years and always assumed it was because I was older, had children and my metabolism was slowing.  It wasn't until I came off the meds that I realised my weight had dropped ...... then restarting the meds again I noticed I felt more heavy, and again I've since reduced my meds and see I look slimmer again.

Thought it was my age ..... but now know different lol 

Meds but does settle down. Gained about stone. Vino didn't help! Haha

Kayla, I have lost weight on Cit...so far. It's been nearly 2 months i am on it. I have lost a total of about 12 pounds. Xx

for the first six months I didn't gain weight but as the anxiety went away my appetite Increased and now I'm a whole dress size bigger and gained 3 kgs

i am focussing on eating plenty of nutritious foods like fruit and vegetables and I walk every day. I must admit I enjoy a glass of wine at weekends and hard to not eat something sweet with my coffee or tea but the main thing here is getting on top of the anxiety and feeling well. The Meds I think is definitely responsible for the weight gain but it has given me my sanity and joy in life and that is so important.

Talk to your doctor next time you see him but weight gain or loss is normal!

 

Hi Kayla.  Citalopram causes me to gain weight.  I exercise a lot and eat well as much as I can.  It's one of the reasons I'm coming off it again.  I hope you are well.

You make a good question Kayla!! I stopped drinking after having bad anxiety issues and lost weight now I seem fat just cause my body stopped buring haha? could be citalopram not sure some people gain weight some lose i wish I lost as I would be quite happy going back to 80 something kgs
