Hello all, wondering if anyone else is losing a lot of weight from RA/methotrexate? I lost weight initially then put some back on and now my weight is dropping again. Not much of me anyway! I had an appointment with my specialist yesterday but unfortunately it was a stand in for him and no interest was shown. I am on the minimum dosage too.

I had only one dose of the methotrexate so I can't say anything about your weight loss. Did cause a great deal of pain, though. So now I've started remicade (yesterday) and I feel a bit better. from what I have gone through so far makes me think a lot of rheumatology treatments are somewhat speculative and the doctors will try the drugs at hand until one works. Just my personal opinion and experience so far. Good luck to you Maggie.

When I first went on MTX I lost quite a bit of weight but more due to dry mouth, lack of appetite. After I got used to the medication I put a bit back on. The first couple of days I take it I don't really want to eat but after that I'm ok so my weight loss from the first couple of days is balancing out for the rest of the week.
I think you should phone your specialists secretary if you continue to lose weight and you are eating well.
