Has anyone experienced weight loss during peri? I’ve noticed I’m losing weight or feel like I’m am and people have started to comment. Strange given that initially I gained it x I’m thinking the worst as I’m experiencing health anxiety beyond comprehension!!!  Help x

    Hi there,

When this all started for me I experienced awful anxiety and panic attacks. Which in turn affected my digestion. Which I think all contributed to my weight loss. Not sure if it is normal, but yes I definitely feel ya! Hormones are freakin crazy. I hope you feel better soon. Oh I found the natural wild yam creams really helpful for a lot of my symptoms like anxiety. Took about a month for to see the changes though. Xx

Hello!  Yes, Last year, I lost 15 lbs. Mine was noticeable too...I am small, so I was petrified I had something bad going on.  Turned out to be Stomach issues and GERD.  Then, Health anxiety lead to a complete loss of appetite...as I was running around getting all kinds if tests done.  Endo/colonoscopy..All clear!  I have slowly gained most of it back after a year.

Boy only in the weight part I wish it was me. No, I've seem to manage to gain weight. You're fine, being that our stomachs act super crazy when we're going through the mini phases of Mini.

Yes I've lost about 20lb in last 6 months, all due to anxiety and loss of appetite. Slowly gaining some of it back as my appetite is improving. It's part of peri roller coaster.

    it could be different things

    thyroid

    cortisol

    parasites

basically when you are deficient in the hormones it can have this affect on you, or the opposite in which case you will put on weight.

Ive lost 12 lbs and doesnt seem like i will gain it back but its ok as long as im healthy..thats the most important thing, and i often times dont look healthy..more like run down  ;/

are you peri? meno or post?

It’s crazy isn’t it, I’ve tried diets etc to loose weight the minute I lose it without trying I instantly convinced myself it’s something bad x I’m confirmed peri for last 3years and will turn 46 in dec x

Excuse my ignorance 🙁, do you mid telling me how to confirm peri?? I have had hormone tests that all came back "normal" as far as the dr was concerned...

Hi jazzy!  It cannot be confirmed through blood testing alone.  1 year straight without a period, then you are in menopause. Then, your FSH will be really high.  Estrogen pretty much non existent.  In perimenopause, our hormones are doing the tango...changing every minute.  I tested out post meno 4x one month...yet had my period the month it was tested.

Yeah that's what I thought. But I have noticed quite a few people on here state that they are confirmed peri, confused as to how they confirm. Thanks so much Lou hope you are keeping well 🤗

      Same here

Been doing lots of reading on how our digestive systems are intricately entwined with our endocine..and how when we are declining in the hormones, it affects the digestion and its as about as logical as it gets.

So this could for sure account for the weight loss, /or gain.
