Weight loss? Help!

Has anyone lost a significant amount of weight during this time? I have and cannot seem to gain it back. I'm terrified. If anyone of did gain it back after loosing it how did you do it? How long did it take you? Did you gain it back with using HRT?

From all my reading, and my experience is that menopause is associated with weight gain even though I have not changed my diet and it is hard to shift those extra pounds!

Wildfire, I think it might help to have some more information.  Are you in peri or menopause?  When you say weight, are you talking pounds or size?

In peri I found myself losing size, it got to the point where I could twirl a size 3 around my waist.  In menopause I did start to gain some weight, and of course that squishy fat around my waist.  (Man do I hate that).  With HRT which was a combination of estrogen patch and vaginal progesterone, I lost pounds.

So really, it would help if you provided more information.

Interesting. I lost weight in peri menopause but I thought it was due to all the exercise I was doing then. Now, I gave the jelly belly sad

I am wondering if you have given this information to your doctor? If this is happening to you, and you don't know why, you really need to see your doctor and let him/her know.

Yes I lost weight in peri as I got gastitis. I started to feel nauseous in the beginning and lost my appetite but after that I gained weight especially around my hips and tummy butbwith a few diet adjustments I lost it to be back around my normal weight x

Yes I lost weight too.  I believe mine was related to the nausea, which caused a lot of anxiety and no appetite.  It was a vicious cycle.  I've gained back 17 lbs in the past few months.  I don't know if you are experiencing any of those symptoms

I lost a total of 100 pounds in about 5 months. Due to a significant decrease in appetite, digestive issues, and anxiety. Since then I have gained it back. Not all of it but some of it. You will experience weight loss and weight gain depending on perimenopause or menopause stage. Don't be too worried.

Might be worth checking thyroid as when my mum went through it, she lost a considerable amount of weight. Just a thought
