Weight Loss, Please Help?!

Hi everyone,

It’s been a while since I posted in here but I need some advice. I’m a 19 year old female and I’ve always been quite tall and slim (10 stone was the heaviest I’ve been) but recently I’m down to about 9.2/3 stone and I need some advice as to why. To give you some background I have always suffered with terrible anxiety and at the moment I’m having a bit of a rough patch due to depression and anxiety and mood swings. I’m waking up around 2pm/3pm most days so obviously I’m skipping food and meals. Sometimes I’ll get up and just have soup which isn’t adequate in comparison to what I used to have. Because of my mental health it actually affects my appetite quite a lot. I know it seems like the answer is obvious but does it really affect your weight to that extremity? It might not seem a lot of weight but as I’m so slim and tall I actually can’t afford/really don’t want to be losing weight. I’m just concerned something worse is going on and would like advice from anyone else if you’ve been in the same situation. Thanks! I’m happy to discuss it here if you have questions etc.

Hey Lauren. Being that I'm in the US I'll be honest in saying I've no earthly idea how much in pounds a stone weighs but since I know you do & the amount that you have lost seems concerning to you then that tells me to be concerned with you. You are correct in saying your current daily ruitine is not healthy. However it is pretty common for a lot of teenagers your age these days. At least here in the US it is. But you story reminds me a lot of my aunt who was also real tall & bean pole skinny. It used to make me sick to watch her eat what ever she wanted, whenever she wanted, in what ever portion size she wanted & NEVER gain an ounce. Then later on as I got older I learned that she had a thyroid problem that made her stay skinny & that all her eating was actually her just trying to keep some weight on her at all cause she would be all boney looking if she wasn't always eating like she did. If your loosing weight is dramatic & your eating enough that you don't think you should be loosing you might wanna have your thyroid checked. My aunt's thyroid problem was discovered when she was 17 so just a thought.

Hi Lauren first off how tall are you, how many calories a day are you consuming and are you doing any form of exercise.

Without more information I wouldn't even hazard a guess.

Hi Lauren I would guess that the reason you are losing weight is because you are having problems eating.  But no one on here is a medical professional and even if there was you couldn't be diagnosed over the net.

You need to check it out with your doctor and get some proper advice.  x

Hello Lauren. I think you can do regular exercise like walk, running early morning this is one of the best way to reduce weight at less time.
