Weight loss through my overactive thyroid

Posted , 6 users are following.

I was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid about 3 weeks ago. I have lost alot of weight with this, which I know is a symptom however I would like to know how much am I expected to lose. I'm very over weight so really it doesn't bother me, but in the three weeks I've gone down 2 dress sizes!

    Neekcole,

the bad news if they have put you on Carbmizorole, is that your weight is about to rise.

Mine went from 85KG to 110 in about 6 months.

Talk to the specialist about diet, its not that you are overweight its just some things seem to go wrong at the same time. I stared dropping things like diet soda and anything with gluten. Now my weight is going down.

I lost about 20lbs in 3 months. At first it was great because i Lost all my postpartum weight without any effort and ate whatever I wanted but soon I started to realize I wasn't just losing weight but losing a lot of nutrients and became deficient in many vitamins, obviously because I was not absorbing anything. I got so weak and had muscle depletion too, couldn't even open the lid of a juice bottle without struggling and legs were so weak I couldn't work out without them shaking.

While you might appreciate the weight loss, it comes at a price, that of poor hiealth.  The main thing that needs to be addressed is your thyroid dysfunction.  In addition to the medical treatment your doctor will prescribe, you have lost a lot of vitamins and minerals and replacing those with supplements will help your health and recovery.  You can eat a healthy diet, avoiding gluten and all should even out.

Hello. In four weeks I lost 20 lb and counting. I was diagnosed with thyroiditis. Muscle and joint pain. Just horrible.. good luck

You need to take 3,000 to 4,000 mg of Regular L-Carnitine daily for the muscle pain, along with a minimum of 1,000 mg of Vitamin D and 200 mg of Magnesium.

I would definitely say do NOT take Acetyl-L-Carnitine.  Perhaps you can check with a Naturopath about the other ones mentioned.
