Weight loss with UC

Hi all!

This may sound like a daft question, but I'm still relatively new to all of this. I lost 2.5 stone during a severe flare last Summer and have since regained it all and had managed to reach remission. I believe I may be experiencing a mild flare (fatigue, using the loo more frequently, bleeding etc) and I wondered if it's normal for weight to drop slightly during this time? I think I have lost around 6 pounds over about a month but my appetite is still good.

I do get pretty anxious about all of this so again I apologise if this is a dumb question!

Thanks in advance

    Yes. U would lose weight during flares if u r trotting to toilet more frequently . Hopefully u r taking meds or thinking of seeing gp or something as u do not want the flare up to worsen .

    I take 5 Pentasa a day so may try increasing before bothering my GP (he must be sick of me already!!!) Thanks for the reassurance smile

    They get paid good salaries !

    Yeah u could increase the Pentasa. I can't take it . It gives me horrendous crippling wind. I take asacol. I discovered after my last flare up from someone else on a forum who swore by it and now I do too [ psyllium husk and psyllium seeds one teaspoon of each in glass of water. I leave it overnight to thicken and add some kefir or probiotics to it in am and take. I have uc this 25 years and this has been the first thing that has stopped the cramps and the bleeding. I have never felt so well since I started this. But if u do make sure u get the psyllium seeds. There is only one place online called ' just ingredients ' where u can purchase. The psyllium husk u can get anywhere. I actually use Lepicol. It has got the added probiotics. Some people call the husk seeds as well but it is not. I find it more beneficial using mix of both.}

    I wish u well with whatever u take and hope it is resolved fairly rapidly !
