Weird cough that comes and goes

For about id say since spring 2011 I had developed this odd cough. Its not the kind of cough that is very chronic or that keeps me from coughing a lot but resembles like a habit cough. I noticed that there's times where I don't have it for months or even a year or 2 then it develops again. Its like tiny coughs I get that last about 2 seconds. It can be irritation from air because i do notice it slightly gets worse where im outside and wind is blowing. I haven't seen the cough getting any worse but it just stays the same. Recently it came back again and I have had it for about a month or 2. I sorta feel a tiny irritation and a need to cough just a tiny little bit. Im sometimes coughing randomly throughout the day but not a lot to disrupt what I am doing or to run out of breath (these coughs are very small) anyone else have these? I sometimes notice I have them throughout the day and by night they sometimes calm down or it can be the other way around where I cough at night but not throughout the day.

Hi, have you thought about allergies this is spring .since your cough seems to be cyclic. Lots of allergens in the air. Especially pollen and molds. Trying a antihistimine might help. This year is really bad in my neck of the woods. I rarely have allergy symptoms. This year is the worst on record and I cough, eyes water, itchy. OTC antihistimes Helped stop it for hours for me.

Yeah I noticed during allergy season I get these coughs most often rather than a runny nose (which I sometimes do) but not so often. I still have this cough today but it hasn't gotten worse or got. Its still steady as it was last week or the week before. I should definitely try that

There are many OTC antihistamines some cove indoor allergens other out door some cover both. Animal and insect bits can also cause issues with allergies.

I seem to get a dry cough every winter and then it goes away in the summer. I live near a river and assumed it was the dampness during the winter months that caused it. I suppose it could be an allergy. In fact most of my village seem to get this winter cough, it is almost a joke.

Have you had your home tested for molds?  That's a big issue in winter here too!
