Weird dreams, depression and no energy

So I've been on 50mg for a month a half but now compared to before I have no drive to do anything. It's hard to get out of bed with some days getting out of bed at 2 pm. I feel the constant need to sleep in. But when I do I have these really weird vivid dreams. In them I'm normally really angry and it's totally unlike me ( normally a soft spoken passive sort of guy.) I also get really irritated really fast. Like if anyone ask me anything or contends me on even the smallest thing I feel like yelling at them. And this depression is sucking all my energy out. Before I wanted to go out with friends and see them but now all I want to do is play video games and see no one. Also one last thing, my sex drive. I haven't been sexually active until recently but I found it really hard to come to a climax. I don't know if it's me, the medicine or what but it's been a little hard to even be myself.

hi, i would suggest giving sertraline at 50mg a little longer, at least another few weeks to a month, to see if your side effects (eg. sexual side effects) get any better (i had the delayed climax also, but it slowly got better until it completely passed after about 7-8 weeks)
over-dreaming is really annoying isn't it. i've had my fair share of that myself. what happens is, ssri antidepressants are known to push the REM stage of dreaming closer to when you wake up. the problem with that is, it means you tend to remember your dreams. (everyone dreams at night, but it usually happens early on in your sleep, so by the time you wake up, the dreams are not fresh in your mind anymore so u dont remember them)
with sertraline i did have that over-dreaming thing going on at first, but after a couple of months it settled down, so there's a good chance yours will settle down also, so give it a little more time. one thing which helps is, dont sleep too much. i know it's easy for me to say, but dont sleep in, because it gets to the point where you will just keep dreaming loads; too much REM sleep (it would happen to me if i slept in. i would just end up in REM dreaming sleep all morning). too much dreaming is bad because, what happens is your brain is firing away..active.. working away..., and it actually ends up exhausted, so u can end up waking up and not feeling like you've had any sleep. so the best thing to do, at least for now as you give the sertraline more time for you to get used to it, is just dont let yourself have too much sleep (6-8 hours and that's it. you can always have a little nap in the day if u really need it).
and the other thing, anger.. that's not uncommon for people to get that.
the reason is, ssri meds work on serotonin.. and serotonin is responsible for: anger, aggression, body temperature, mood, sleep, sex, appetite, and metabolism. so as your serotonin balance changes, you get people experiencing some of the above related side effects, which could go off in either direction (eg. people might lose weight, or gain it. lose appetite, or gain more appetite.. feel more angry than usual, or feel more passive, etc)
the good news is, if you give the meds time (can take 8-12 weeks), all this stuff should settle down and and balance out, and u will feel more 'stable'.it's a slow process ok. so just try and go with it if you can. for what it's worth, i have the increased agression a bit myself. i have to say though, i actually like it, because i like to feel a bit stronger and bit more 'thicker skinned' about life, which is a good way to be, because then when bad stuff happens, you can deal with it better instead of just falling to pieces. (don;t worry your agression, anger and dreams will settle down so just give it a bit more time ok)

Thanks! It was worrying me because it's only been these past few weeks that have been like this so I thought it was my body reacting negatively to it. I definitely understand the thicker skin, that's something I've noticed. I'm about to get past things faster or just drop it all together. Hopefully the sex drive will come back (considering I'm only 21). Thanks for addressing all the parts to my post. I didn't know exactly what I was asking for but that assurance was exactly what I needed. Thank you!

cool, i hope u give it at least a couple more weeks as it would be a shame to stop now just when u might only need a couple more weeks for it to settle in
by the way, if you take your sertraline at night:- i take mine when i wake up instead, as i find doing that means it's less likely to mess with my sleep/dreams
