Weird eye problems lasted a number of years

Hey this is my first post on something like this and the only time I've properly mentioned it in detail so please bear in mind this has took a lot of confidence for me to post this. For a number of years now (maybe 4 or 5) I've had these spots in my vision. They are hard to describe sometimes they are like yellow or green sunspot type of thing, they can be worse then other times and they seem to be sometimes like flashing but I can't describe. There is more at times than others and I will always see something that's just seems to be there in my vision although these almost seem invisible like I can't see anything but it's like there's something there. It depends what I look at I guess. (Like transparent dots but not floaters) I can forget and hardly notice them at times but still there will be something there always even though it seem like there isn't? I've never seen a doctor about this because I've been to scared and shy to say anything. They have seem to have lasted for some time, as long as I can remember to be honest. I don't have any vision loss and can see fine and never have anything else like flashes or anything but saying that a few times in the past I've had like , what I can describe as what is like the corner of my eyelid is flickering in my vision. This is rare I've had this and first noticed it about a year ago but just ignored it. (Although worried at the time). It's strange and annoying that I get these and wondering has anyone else experienced similar things or what it could be. I see them when my eyes are closed aswell just the worse times come and go and these are obviously a permanent problem. I've just never said anything and always brushed of the fact I have them and don't understand what it could be. In the past I've looked at the sun by mistake but nothing seriously. I don't really want an eye test done.

Thanks for reading.

I wonder why you dont want an eye test?  That is the first thing you should do......see an optician/optometrist. They will examine your eyes thoroughly .Make sure you tell them about the flashes and spots. Your eyes are precious and its up to you to look after them.

I'm sure an optician will be able to allay any fears you may have.

Guess I'm just scared about getting an eye test done because of the outcome? Just wanted to keep it too myself and just brush it off. The problems lasted years now on and off coloured flashy like spots that are coloured at times. Weird symptoms. Always some kind of spots in my central vision not like floaters at all. Just don't wanna worry my family either

You are being a responsible adult by going to an optician.  Dont use the excuse of worrying your family...this is your life and your eyes and lots of people have routine eye examinations every few years

Just never been to any doctor about them which is stupid ik.. im gonna look silly going about a problem I've had for a number of years and never told a doctor about

Of course you wont look silly......doctors in general know that people keep symptoms to themselves for a long time before getting a diagnosis.

I have squiggly flashes of white. I was told I have occular Histoplasmosis. I would see the eye doc they can keep an out so things don't progress.

I'm going to see the opticians soon. When I got the money. I've had these consistent dots/spots in my vision for years, these haven't ever fully gone Away.. I just think if I was gonna go blind then it would of happened by now .. probably got some rare eye disease?
