Weird feeling in ankle

Good day everyone!

I have had this weird feeling in my ankle for the last little while and not sure what to think of it.

It starts in my surgical site, and goes down to the bottom of my foot. Not entirely sure how to describe it, but it feels like a pulse or a vibration that goes through this area, doesn't necessarily hurt, but feels weird and annoying. I had a screw placed in my medial malleolus, just so you know the general area.

Does anyone else have this same problem, or have any idea what this could be?

Thanks for your help in advanced!!

Hello Matthew, you didn't say how long ago you had the surgery. My guess is that one of the nerves was affected. keep a close eye on it. Mention it to your surgeon on your next appointment.

    Hope things resolve.

    Hi Matthew,

I had an ORIF broken fibula, dislocated ankle and torn ligaments in my left ankle that happened on July 13th of this year.  I have a plate and originally eight screws but have had the two longest ones out in september.

I have had similar experiences - burning, an electrical impulse kind of feeling that shoots up both incisions, a sharp pain ... I'm told this is normal and a good sign because it's your nerves and tissues healing itself.

They can be annoying sometimes but I'm good with it all if it's part of the healing process.

Best of luck with your recovery,

    Deb

    Good afternoon.

I had my surgery back in march of this year. It was for a non-union in my medial malleolus.

I have felt the burning sensation in my foot, and an electrical impulse feeling is a good way to describe the feeling. I had x-rays recently because the doctor thought i might have refractured my ankle, but i did not.

Going forward, i am having a cortisone shot to help with pain and being referred to another surgeon, as i do not think my ankle is totally healed.

    Thanks for your help!
