Weird feeling in head

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have severe anxiety and get tension headaches quite often. My neck, shoulders and jaw are also tight all the time. I have also developed pulsatile tinnitus. I’m scheduled to have an MRA and MRV next week. just recently I have the weirdest feeling in the back top part of my head. It almost feels like my pulse but not quite. could this be from the tension in my neck or my anxiety or the tinnitus? It has me terrified. Anyone out there dealt with anything like this?

yes I have had the same thing many times over. I also have tinnitus and I’ve had it for a very long time. I’ve had neck and shoulder tension on and off also for a long time. in fact of the right side of my neck going down to my shoulder and up into my head is very tight and kind of painful. It can radiate into the head and cause headaches.

All of my sensations are due to long-term stress and anxiety.

The pulse feeling in your head can definitely be due to anxiety and stress. It’s most likely that you’re just feeling the pulsating of your arteries. Sometimes when we have anxiety we can feel our pulses and they sometimes feel bounding or stronger. I’ve had that many times.

your testing will most likely be normal. And when it comes out all good, really start working on reducing the anxiety because that will help a lot. Don’t focus on all of your bodily sensations because then you’ll never get anywhere. Think positive. speak with a counselor if you need some help managing this.

A mistake that a lot of people with anxiety have is that they jump from one doctor to the next when they are told that everything is fine. That’s unnecessary and exhausting. Anyway I hope you feel better and that you’re able to get some support in reducing your anxiety. Feel free to private message me anytime.

I've felt my pulse in weird places, and that's definitely a sign of anxiety -- I've felt it in my neck and in my stomach. Especially if you are tense in the neck/shoulders area, I think this is very likely what you're feeling. Also, what Jan said ^^^ is spot on.
