Weird reaction to heat - strange sensations

So today, I'm sat at home and it's a cool temperature, I'm feeling pretty cold so get into bed. I feel myself slowly getting warmer and my heart starts beating quite fast so take a layer off. I then started feeling boiling hot in my face, when I touch the skin on my face it is very hot (just over my nose and cheeks) and is rashy and red in that area. My body then starts to feel very cold at the same time and I start getting prickly sensations all over my body (finger, toes, face, head legs). At this point I feel shaky and my breathing and heart is fast.
This will also happen on the train, as soon as I get into a mildy warm environment it cause these weird sensations described and I don't know if I'm hot or cold as my head gets boiling hot but my body begins to get freezing cold.
I failed a sweat test as a baby. When I exercise i go extremely red and very hot in the face but hardly sweat at all.
I also flip from extremely hot to extremely cold very easily and can start shaking with coldness when my temperature drops a little.

Sounds like a pretty scarey reaction to heat, I suggest you go and discuss this with your GP just to put your mind at rest, could just be something that you will suffer with for life

Sounds like your sweat glands are not functioning properly and don't allow your body to heat and cool down accordingly. You may want to see an endocrinologist and see what the problem could be.
Have you had your hormone levels checked? Do you suffer from low or high blood pressure?I wish you healing

Thank you for your reply and advice I really appreciate it. My blood pressure is normal. I did get a private test for my thyroid recently and it came back that my free thyroxine was just above the normal range. But my TSH was within the normal range.
You mentioning an endocrinologist reminded me of this, I'm not sure if that's relevant or could be anything to do with it?
Thanks

When your thyroid is not functioning properly it can throw many things in your body out of sync. Temperature change is one of them. Ask if you may need medication for your Free Thyroxine. Don't let your doctor just blow you off. These are very real symptoms that need addressed. Everything is relevant in your diagnosis and treatment. I will pray for your doctor to finally diagnose your condition correctly and outline a treatment and cure for you. God Bless
