Weird Symptoms & Elevated Liver Enzymes

My strange health journey started about 6 months ago when I was walking in a store feeling normal and happy and then turned into dizziness, hand tightness, heart palpitations, couldn't breathe, etc. All the symptoms of an anxiety attack. My girlfriend rushed me to the E.R. They couldn't find anything wrong.
I went to the E.R. a total of 3 times in the course of about 3 months. Blood test, CT scan, chest x-ray, etc. Everything seemed normal. Then there were a couple of odd days where everything seemed dark and gloomy and lonely. Like someone had died or something. I was sad and had NO reason to be! I just kept saying "oh my god what is wrong with me?" I'd never had these issues in my life. I've just had this overwhelming feeling that SOMETHING is off/wrong with my body and couldn't figure it out..... So I started seeing a Doctor.
My doctor prescribed me Paxil. So far, I've had no more of those attacks that sent me to the hospital. But, I've felt one o those attacks coming on with heavy breathing, but then my body was overwhelmed with a burning "pins and needles" sensation and then I was okay. Almost like Paxil blocked the oncoming attack. This mainly happened at first but has subsided for the most part.
As for the present time.. I would still get a few random heart palpitations, so my Dr put a holter monitor on me to wear for 24 hours. Heart appears to be okay.. ok great. But I still get these weird feelings sometimes and dizziness. A couple times a week, I'll wake up at 2am immedaitely feeling really dizzy with some nausea, and MOST days I am off balance and my vision is just a bit foggy and dizzy. It's scary.. The doctor has done more and more blood test. My B12 is okay and everything else, except he recently found that my liver enzymes are elevated. My AST was intially 67 and ALT was 135. He tested again a couple weeks later and my AST dropped to 36 (now normal) and my ALT to 82 (still high). Tested a 3rd time and my AST rained 1 point to 37 (still normal) and ALT still at 82. Hepatitis testing all came back negative, so now I'm having an ultrasound on my liver this thursday.
I don't take any medicine and I stopped going out weekly and drinking alcohol about 4 months ago. I only drink water. I take my paxil daily, but that apparently doesn't elevate liver enzymes.
I forgot to mention that I kept getting reccuring styes in my right eye in the same spots. Last time it flamed up was a few weeks ago. It busted and looks normal again. But if history repeats itself, it'll be back again eventually.
Any insight? I'm mainly scared that it's cancer or something like that... But wouldn't my CT scan at the hospital and other blood tests have shown something??

If your tests proved ok, feel happy you are healthy, and consider there is nothing wrong and you are as fit as a lop.
You are having a UV Scan on your liver, have you had boods taken etc. ? Liver function, I have those twice a year If the tests are ok you need to discuss your Anxiety again with your GP, there are treatment Pathways to try and He may suggest that as a further way foward
Try Relaxation Technique, Mindfulness and Breathing Techniques, both may help in controlling Anxiety. Find books on Amazon or look on Internet

Hey All,
I had to create because I HAVE to know. How are you both doing? I'm going through literally the exact same thing. I have an ultra sound for my liver tomorrow. I took an entire week of work for Thanksgiving and I had 3 major anxiety attacks this week. I used to have small palpitation spikes that have occured once a week for the past few months. I had two major panic attacks, one in April and one in August, for which I went to the ER for both. Both they did EKG's and blood work and said they couldn't find anything other than my TSH was slightly high at 12.
Long story short after the panic attacks this week I went to the doctor (skipped the insane ER bills) and they ran a few tests on me. They also gave me Xanax which take as needed. I've only taken it once out of the three days I've had it and worked wonders. Never had the burning/tingling just nice calm release.
As for the blood panel everything was fine except for the liver enzymes. My ALT was 148~ and my AST was 78~. I haven't had a second test yet but I go into the doctor tomorrow for an ultrasound.
Did you ever get a diagnosis/updates on your situation?

I also just joined the site to track progress with what is going on with you. I've been consistently seeing a doctor for 4 years for malice, fatigue, anxiety, brain fog, poor memory and focus, etc. My ALT and AST were elevated slightly 3 times in a row, as well as Bilirubin. Doc said it could be a genetic thing with the Bilirubin. As a person with Anxiety I can't stand words like: "possibly, could, maybe, perhaps & I wouldn't worry about it." After feeling completely hopeless from this doctor because my symptoms were worsening as well as finding new things to add to the list of weird s**t going on, I decided to break up with my doctor and see someone else. The new doctor also discovers elevated liver enzymes and Bilirubin. She then tells me that I *could* have a genetic thing that just makes me bilirubin naturally higher. I said that I have heard that before and that I was feeling a bit frustrated with the 'could' nonsense so she ordered an ultrasound to look into it. The ultrasound showed multiple calcified granulomas in my spleen indicating I had once had some bad virus or infection from what I gather? It also showed possible fatty liver or liver disease, but the results were unclear so she directed me to a Gasteroenterologist who ordered $4k worth of tests including different type of hepatic labs, as well as an Elastography MRI to show the grade that my liver is in more accurately. Luckily I have insurance... So I finished my tests this week and will hear back by Tuesday. I'm nervous. My usually high anxiety has been through the roof. I keep noticing I have all the symptoms of well - everything... but mostly Hepatitis C. I've never used IV drugs, but I do have a lot of tattoos and used to have a lot of piercings. Jee... my mind is going all over the place. Point is, I am glad your doc is taking your situation seriously. I urge anyone who feels anxious about their health or has a feeling as something really not being right to be seen. Second opinions, too! I did my fair share of drinking from 16-23 when my husband and I decided to start a family. Since then I can hardly drink. I may every 2 months on a date. A few drinks leaves me with a TERRIBLE hangover lasting 2-3 days sometimes. Just assumed it was my body getting older and tolerating less from having kids, but now I wonder. I'm 28... wish my luck as I sincerely wish you luck and hope to receive an update. I wouldn't mind making a friend or two just to talk with sometimes. 😉

Also I might add that I'm a bit of a gym rat/health freak. Gluten and Dairy free. 126lb, 5'4. I can't understand the whole fatty liver concept. My doc did jokingly say I could be "skinny fat." Apparently it's a real thing. 😂

How did you get on?
I am 34 and have been having the same symptoms for 4 weeks now. I'm in the UK & doctors are stumped. I have been tea total for 8 years and my BMI is normal. My enzymes were 281/91 and the doctor was really worried. My heart rate keeps spiking into the 150's while Im calm and resting then dropping into the 30s too, which leaves me dizzy and exhausted. My life is one huge ball of stress (disabled son and hubby has huge health issues), but I have never had an actual anxiety / panic attack. For the most part I'm calm. I have had the heart monitor on for 24 hours but not had the results yet. I'm waiting for a heart echo, liver, kidney and adrenal scans. NHS waiting lists mean these could be months yet though. Meanwhile I have to "rest and take it easy" - I'd love the doctors to try that in my shoes haha!
