Weird symptoms, scared!!!

I was diagnosed with GERD a month ago. At the time I had a cough that just wouldn't go away. Doctor prescribed omeprazole 40mg. I took it for a short period of time (a little over two weeks) and stopped because I developed weird side effects. After being off them, I noticed that I was no better off them than I was on them. Recently my appetite has been terrible. And I sometimes get abdominal pain. I also noticed that when I lay down, I sometimes get abdominal spasms. I am so worried and when I look up what I am experiencing, I get some pretty worrisome search results. I am switching medications soon, hoping that its nothing. I had an abdominal CT in April and it was normal. My thyroids are normal. My doctor wants to do some bloodwork to see if its a vitamin deficiency

I'm kind of freaking out.. has anyone experienced anything similar?

I'm experiencing the same symptoms. The doctors suspected either IBS, H. Pylori infection, colitis or ulcerative gastritis. They ordered blood test, stool tests, hemoccult test and an endoscopy. Relax and try not looking up things on the internet, it would only scare you.

I have an appointment with a specialist on Monday. I'll keep you updated.

Hey. Sorry you are suffering. I have acid reflux and have every symptom under the sun from heartburn, breathless, a lump feeling in the throat (called Globus) and lots of burping. PPIs havent helped despite being on the highest dose. I have overhauled my diet (which has helped) as well as stopping ALL booze/fizzy drinks/coffee/tea and not lying down after eating. The thing that makes it worse is stress and anxiety and I found that most of that came from a fear of what the symtpoms could be and my frantic googling. Stomach conditions are INCREDIBLY common and it most cases, even though it feels massively dramatic, there is no serious cause. just the body being stupid and not working properly. i may be worth speaking to your doctor about acid reflux because that can cause coughing (because the acid gets into the throat). i cough too sometimes and my throat very sensitive. otherwise i can only recommend a massive change in diet. Just give up tea/coffee (all, not just caffeinated), fizzy drinks, alcohol and chocolate for a few weeks. Good luck!

I had the results of my endoscopy a few days ago. I have gastritis and esophagitis. The doctor told me to continue taking the esomeprazole and she ordered a CT scan and a colonoscopy.

After waiting for my results for a week I noticed that my acid reflux and stomach pain got worse. I think that stress and anxiety might be causing my symptoms. Maybe is the same for you. Try to relax and talk to your doctor about what other test he can do to make sure you're fine. Good luck!
