After switching from this to try an SSRI it is with some welcome i am am coming back to venlefaxine. I had mixed success with Ven over 10 years or so but wanted to try something else to see if could achieve better results. However after trying both Prozac and Citalopram and suffering horrendous side effects my doc has recommended coming back to Ven and managing my depression based around this. I had no issues first time round starting on it and here's hoping coming off the SSRI and tapering on Ven all goes well!

Seroxat stopped working. I also take mirtazapine. I know from experience that
sometimes depression is so bad you need antidepressants to take the edge off,
allowing you to cope and get your life back on track. Only then are you able to consider other ways to manage how you feel. I found CBT useful, but in conjunction with the medication. I found my doctors did know what they were doing - they listened and really cared. Try not to listen to the scare stories. Venlafaxine doesn't suit some people but you know you're ok on it. Give it a go. The way I look at it - diabetics
need insulin and those of us with chemical imbalance in their brains need medication. Why not?
