Went physio not what I expected

Went physio today and he felt down my back , and the middle of my back hurt so bad was untrue . See I thought I was doing really well . Well now he referred me to someone that bit more of a specialist in backs and will able to give me core exercises as he said that's what I need . Am sure he thinks my back has ceased up a bit . Were I not been able to do anything for months. As anyone had this happen to them ?

Me next question is am due to fly to America the 12th August, he said that I have be careful as this is a really long flight , I am devastated if I can't go as this has been booked for well over year .

So time I go it be like 10 weeks since operation , I know there a seat I can buy that will help the way I sit , just can't remember what it's called .

I really don't know if to cancel this trip am just not sure what to do . Iam just fed up of being housebound all time or going out for a lunch or little walk to shop . I don't regret surgery just wanna be completely better sad

    Hi Donna

re the physio, yes, I found any kind of manipulation completely unhelpful. I stopped my physio doing it. Core strength and stamina is what you need. Your back will have got much stiffer due to being so careful. But you do need to get it working again, just slowly. If I bend in my upper back it feels completely stuck at he moment! Amazing. It's due to moving around like I have a rod up my backside! A few weeks gentle stretching it ought to free it up though. Same for you I daresay.

re the trip to America, I sympathise. I had to cancel a family trip to Australia to see my sister and her lovely family after my first op. Miserable. Also booked about a year earlier.

The only seat you could realistically use would be a lie-flat seat/bed in business class but that would cost a fortune. You have to make the call. That much sitting in economy class really won't help though. if you still have nerve pain, this could make it worse and really spoil your time in the US. Do you have travel insurance? They would cover the cost of cancelling your tickets if it came to it.

if on the other hand you are now comfortable sitting for say 30-45 minutes then you might manage it. You could take breaks waking up and down. But it would be a big challenge I expect. Long haul flights are rubbish enough at the best of times!

    good luck whatever you choose.
