Went to see my gp today with letter from Rheumy

Once she opened the letter I told her that Rheumy had prescribed A Acid and told her I would not be taking it.  I told her I would take responsibilty for making that decision and would consider in the future after a Dexa Scan, she couldn't understand why he hadn't sent me for one.  Not to worry she couldn't make out the dosage he wrote, so she is waiting on a letter from Rheumy.

She agreed with me that if and whem I may need A Acid then I will take it but not before Dexa and not until after the dental implants are completed.  So all in all I am pleased.  Will be reducing from 15mg pred to 12.5mg and see how I go, will be doing that Monday or Tuesday.  Am cooking for 5 of us on Sunday and will be under a wee bit of pressure and new wooden floors going down on Tuesday, I might wait until Wed to reduce.  Any comments welcome and thanks in advance.   Pat

Oh forgot to say I brought her a copy of the Bristol/Kirwin paper down and told her that is the way I want to manage my PMR/Pred reduction.

    Good for you👏👏👏👏👏

I personally would wait to reduce till after you recover from company and having your floors done.  I found that exhausting....

Hi Mrs. Mac, yes I won't be reducing until Wednesday.  I forgot about the floors going down and new doors going on.  So everything should be tickety boo after Tuesday.  Thanks Diana (((Hugs)))

Pat, definitely agree with Diana not to consider a reduction until your busy weekend and the floor are done and dusted!

Hi Mrs. O, I know, I don't know what I was thinking about.  It will be Wednesday or after, depending on how I feel  Thanks Mrs. O,  Regards Pat

Can only add from my experience - don't just reduce until you are ready and there is no stress etc. Just take it easy - best of luck

Hi John, yes I need to take it real easy the next couple of days.  I will be cooking with a little help from my son.  But on Tuesday when the floors and doors are going down.  I will be in my bedroom, my two sons and sister in law will be moving furniture.  Easy does it.  Thanks for your input. Regards Pat

    Pat,

A good conversation with your doctor. Positive outcome.

Hi Charlie, yes my dr. and I get on really well.  Thank goodness and I told her that I am taking responsibility for not taking the A Acid.  (I think she secretly agreed with me).  Thanks Charlie

If the recommended reduction is 1% you should reduce to 13.5 mg or maybe 13 mg spread over a couple of weeks using the slow reduction method?  Don't be in a rush to get down.

Hi Oregonjohn,  I thought it was 1% or even 0.5 once I reached 10mg.  I really am not in a hurry but I am trying every 6 weeks to get down.  I definitely don't want a flare up.  Thanks.  Regards Pat

That's really good Pat - now we need to send your nice-sounding GP to train a few more!!

I'd give it to the weekend to start the reduction - with all that excitement in one week you'll need a rest first!!

Hi Eileen, I think I just may do that.  Leave it to the weekend so as to let my body recover without any hiccups.  My next thing will be when I see Rheumy and tell him I am not taking A Acid and hand him the Bristol/Kirwan paper, don't know if he would be as receptive as my gp, but tough.

I would rather just work with my gp but we shall see.  Thanks anyway.  Pat
