Western Blot HSV

Hello,

I ordered an HSV 1&2 western blot test. I have had a low positive on my IgM both 1:40 and IgG for HSV 2 was a 4.38. Also, a normal range on a PCR DNA blood test. My question is how soon after taking antivirals twice a day for 5 days can I do the western blot test? I read online it can take up to 3 months to build antibodies. So should I wait 3 months from the last time I took antivirals or 3 months from my original outbreak?

I dont know exactly when i was exposed but i do know when my first "outbreak" was. I took antivirals about a week in for 5 days and again like 2 weeks later. they present themselves as canker sores. how long will they effect results?

it would be the last time you had sex

and if you take antivirals for lets say 10 days you should wait 3 months from exposure plus 10 days

the last time i had Sex before my outbreak? not sure on that date but i have a rough idea of when i had my outbreak start. can i go off that?

Your HSV2 range on the IGG slightly falls off from the "false positive" range but that's good you're doing confirmatory testing. It's recommended to test 3 months after possible exposure/sex. Best of luck to you.

i read somewhere that a false positive could be all the way up to a 5 on IgG? I dont know exactly when i was exposed but i do know when my first "outbreak" was. I just noticed that you took the Western Blot test which is the gold standard for herpes testing if there are no symptoms present. The test is very accurate. Since you also experience sores I would go and get swabbed as a double confirmation. At this point, I don't believe that antivirals will impact the results. Well wishes to you.
