I had the same thing,I'm 10wks in and still doing physical therapy. I brought this to her attention and she has been massaging that area, it is just about gone now.

It builds up...you break it down. Took me 10 weeks of PT @ 2X/week plus the work at home to get from -14 / +84 to -1 / +123. The problem is that you CANNOT judge your progress by time alone Your DNA will produce scar tissue in greater or lesser amounts than someone else. Your exercise and PT level will be different from that of someone else. There are so many factors here that any comparison to another person or belief in any time schedule is irrelevant. There are only three things to concentrate on: time, work and patience. Give your knee the time it needs to heal, do all your PT and home exercises diligently and have the patience to see it through. That's it. The word "should" doesn't exist in TKR Land.

Dawn 220.
I have the scar tissue as well and understand what you mean about it hurting. Mine pulls when I exercise. I do my exercises 2 times a day, and then aerobics on a bike for 10 minutes forward and then backwards. I take the weekend off and by Monday I can even do more. When I do the exercises I put a heating pad on my knee or rub it or use a small massager; by doing this I don't feel the scar tissue and I can continue for longer. I think that tissue will eventually stretch itself out. If not I heard you can get a alcohol injection and that breaks it up. I wouldn't do that until the 2 year healing mark is hit and your knee surgeon gives the ok.

I just hit 22 months post-op. All that's left is a bit of stiffness when I sit for long periods of time and some nerve tingling when I kneel on a hard surface. All other symptoms are completely gone. Never even think about the knee anymore. It just takes time, work and patience. You'll get there...
