What are the chances of CT scan catches advanced tumor?

34, male,

I've been miserable. anxious and depressed, since my gallbladder removed one year ago ive been struggling with my bowels.

I've been struggling with yellow diarrhea, pain that is usually on left side that comes and goes, gas, and flat poop sometimes that comes and goes.

I went to a GI, he said it was probably IBS, ordered blood work, and a CT scan (to also check my kidney stones).

All came back clean. My question is, would a CT scan show colon cancer or masses or obstructions? Am I safe of that? Or i might have something else?

Yes, a CT scan should pick up cancerous masses......big and small.

I wonder if you have something called BAM....bile acid malabsorption. it sometimes can occur after gall bladder removal and the patient is often told its IBS. You would need a gamma ray scan to diagnose it and not all consultants are aware or have the facilities for this. You may have to ask around.
