    Hi Isaish,

Lots of fibre is recommended. I’m not the best to talk to about diet though. I am keen to know how you’re  feeling after surgery and how you progress. I had surgery 5 weeks ago and I’m still struggling with bad pain after bm. It’s not healing!! How bad was your pain?

i feel so much pain after bm for the first and the second day of the surgery..i took 2 painkillers each day for the 1st and second day only and i had diarrhea for 6 times during my second day because i took lactulose given by the doctor..that was terrible! i cried all day long..so i decided to stop using lactulose and only take fiber supplements from now on..for the 3rd and 4th day i only felt pain during bm but less after bm..the pain will last 3 minutes after bm..then im ok..and i dont take painkiller anymore..it just that my problem now is to control my self to not go the toilet too often for bm..

I was stitched up and the wound did open up like a whole. It’s healed now. But my fissure has not. You say you only have pain for a few minutes after BM. I have severe pain for 5 hours after bm!! Sorry I don’t know what’s the difference between open or closed surgery. What do you mean?

i think mine is also like u..its almost heal but open up like a hole too..that what makes me curious and worry about the look of the wound..and today’s morning i got constipated and had small hard stool and the fissure and the wound were very painful..i usually squat during bm but today i tried to sit i think that made my fissure hurt so much..did u squat or sitting while having bm after the surgery???

I only sit. The wound will heal don’t stress. Mine was a hole my little finger fit into it. But it heals from the inside out. Use Vaseline before your bm. Also have a hot bath first or sit on a hot wheat bag..

Hi, what is the difference between open vs closed internal sphincterotomy?

from my understanding after reading some infos, the difference  between open and closed is just that open lateral internal sphincterotomy, the surgeon will cut the sphincter muscle and left the wound to heal itself without stitching it..and this leads to slow healing process and pain rather than closed which is the wound being stitched and allow the blood flow and heal faster..

its usually based on the surgeon’s preference to which he/she wants to do it without telling the patients
