Okay RtX, it is rather unlikely this can cause death. So your suggestion of scabies is the kind of thing this could be - but you would need to see a Medical Professional, or even a Dermatologist when you can to have them correctly identified and treated.

In the mean time, try to reduce any irritation, this can come from soap and shower gel, then if you wear tight underwear this can irritate further by rubbing, try looser underwear such as boxer shorts, or perhaps just an outer layer to cover.

For now try using water only in the shower to clean the area, soap and shower gel that drains into the area must be fully rinsed away - just as important is how you dry the area - you need to carefully pat the area dry and remove all moisture as this can be a further irritant ....

    Dear RtX,

You are on the right track in thinking that it's scrotal scabetic nodules. To support the diagnosis, check elsewhere on your body for other areas that are especially itchy or where you can see/feel an itchy/scaly/red rash. This will usually be armpits, behind your elbows, between your fingers and toes and also flexor aspect of the wrists. Also check your belly button and between your buttocks (natal cleft).

The best treatment for scabies is either permethrin cream or malathion lotion that you can buy without prescription from your chemist (drugstore). Apply only after carefully reading the instructions- not just how and when to apply but you'll need to wash clothes, bedlinen on a hot (60C) cycle etc.

If the nodules are very itchy, you can also purchase crotamiton (Eurax) cream.

    Rgds,
