What are you main symptoms?

Posted , 9 users are following.

I don't get spasms or urgent bowel movements. I sometimes have loose stools, quite rarely actual diarrhea. My main issue is excessive flatulence, usually in the afternoon evening.

I was interested to know what other people's main symptoms are?

I am like you sometimes normal most of the time loose stools but my main problem is flatulance. starts from the time i get up even after a bowl movement. Sometimes mine is so bad i get an extended stomach and pain to were i need to use a heating pad. The trapped gas is the worst. Do you take any meds for yours?

Trapped gas non stop. Creates so many horrid symptoms. Sometimes not sure if I can tolerate it any more. Makes no difference what I eat. Even plain rice causes it or just water.

I have exactly the same symptoms of you. Occasionally I have diarrhea but the flatulence is a real pain. I have it mainly about 5 times a week and it usually starts around the middle of the day. Sometimes before I have ate any lunch. Sometimes it will ease off by early evening then I am ok.

I have had scans and a hydrogen breath test but results were normal. I used get bad pains as well but a twelve week course of Symprove (Pro biotic) helped with this. I am now going to try the low FODMAP diet to see if there is anything in my limited diet I need to remove or reduce. Medication wise I take Codeine Phosphate which I have taken for over forty years and Pantoprazole for Barretts Oesophagus.

Everyone's main symptoms are different; IBS is very variable and this makes it hard to diagnose. My symptoms started with constipation, pain, occasional abdominal twitching and occasional loose stools or diarrhoea with nausea. Initiatally, I didn't get spasms either. I had constant, generalised, shifting abdominal pain. Eventually, this changed to spasmodic, come and go pain. My symptoms differed from my brother's IBS, so I didn't recognise my own Irritable Bowel. Have you been given an IBS diagnosis from your doctor? If you haven't, see your doctor who will be able to tell you whether you have IBS by running tests to rule out other causes.

I haven't been given a diagnosis of IBS from my doctor, he thinks that it is IBS symptoms rather than the syndrome itself, which he suspects is caused by a mix of anxiety/stress and possible side-effects from anti-depressants. I don't really get pain or much discomfort, but it's the excessive wind that really bothers me..

I think your doctor is splitting hairs when he says you have symptoms of IBS but not the syndrome of IBS. To have IBS symptoms is to have IBS itself. IBS can be triggered by stress and anxiety and causes stress and anxiety. See someone else to get a definitive diagnosis of IBS.
