What are your symptoms?

Hi everyone. I'm still posting, trying to get to the bottom of my pain!

I have had lots of blood work done which has all come back normal. I'm awaiting a blood test to rule out ankylosing spondylitis and two doctors have now mentioned fibromyalgia.

I suffer with a burning pain, sometimes stabbing in my middle back and ribs near enough every single day and I have done for 13 weeks. My right hip hurts when I walk and sometimes feels like it's burning when I'm at rest. My lower back is stiff and painful. I get shooting pain down my right thigh. My feet ache really quickly when I've been on them for a little while and also ache when I'm lying in bed. My neck and shoulder have now begun to hurt and feel stiff too.

Are these symptoms of fibro? What are your symptoms and is it common to suffer every single day in some way for 13 weeks plus?

Thankyou in advance 😃

Sounds like fibromyalgia as its a nerve condition so bloods come back normal. Burning pain and stabbing pain are main symptoms of fibromyalgia

Hi, I've been suffering pain most weeks for years and years! anything from feet pain, ankle pain, pain going down my left leg, groin pain, lower back pain, chest pain, stomach pain, shoulder pain, tiredness.. most of these pains are bought on by very little amount of activity. Have been told by various GP's and specialists over the years that I have ibs, costochondritis, sciatica, flat feet causing the problems, being out of shape causing the problems! Got fed up of it all recently, went to a different GP who sent me for all the blood test under the sun (again!). All came back normal apart from Vitamin D level low (I've taken Vit D tablets every day for last 2 years so I was aware of that) and Uric Acid ie Gout levels were high (I do suffer from Gout but not had an attack this year). I did mention Fibro to him but he wasn't really interested in that being a cause! ...so in conclusion at least your Doctors are considering Fibro as a cause!

for several years I have had similar systems - random pain, burning, stabbing and vibrating sensations. It has not been restricted to a particular area. I also have osteo-arthritis in my neck, back and hands particularly and wake up stiff. My GP reluctantly referred me to a rhuematologist who diagnosed Fibro. I was prescribed Gabapentin and it has largely helped with the symptoms except the osteo-arthritis which is not nerve related. For that I have physio and take pain relief when it gets bad. I find ibuprofen creams help for local pain. I do have flare ups when I feel so exhausted but try to manage it by having easier days.

I have found that regular exercise- yoga and walking is good for my body but also my head which sometimes takes all of my willpower but I make myself do it! I accept that there are different degrees of Fibro and mine may not be as severe as others.

I find that doctors are cynical about Fibromyalgia - before I was given a diagnosis I was told it was old age...59. That is because there is not scientific test to prove whether you have it - even I was cynical that I was being labelled- however I can do a ticklist of nearly all reported symptoms so therefore accept that I do suffer from it. I hope this helps you to try to manage your symptoms.

I'm so sorry to hear you're also in so much pain, do the injections bring you relief!

I asked my doc about being referred to a rheumatologist but he is reluctant to do so and said he thinks the referral would bounce back. So it looks as if I'm stuck non the wiser as to why I'm in daily pain 😭
