What are your thoughts on Sertraline

. I started with 25 then 50 and then 75 and still it didnt help so I was upped to 100 mg and wow!!! what a HUGE difference in my moods. I actually contacted my doctor the end of last week and told her after being on it for 8+ month that my night sweats havent changed. (They are horrible!!! I wake up and I am soaked, plus it really messes with your short term memory loss, but I will sacrifice that) anyways I asked her If I could change my medication and she said to try cutting down to 50mg and lets see how that goes. Well at 50mg I don't really have night sweats and my memory seems better BUT my mood is horrible. I feel like I hate the world and feel like I am right back at pint one. Plus I have had a headache for 3 days now. So needless to say I just went back to 100mg and 1.My headache is gone and 2. I already feel a difference in my mood. I don't feel edgy nor do I feel like I hate the world. My question is to anyone who takes this medication do you have horrible night sweats? Do you feel like your brain is foggy? If so do they get better or worse and did you have to change medications. I love that it helps with my mood but I really dislike the memory loss. I can deal with night sweats but to forget small things I really dislike. I'm 35 and feel like my memory should be on point still.

Hi Jennifer, I don't suffer from night sweats but it's much easier for me to sweat,I sweat a lot and easier. But I do noticed in recent years the fogginess, forgetting of names of celebrities, even my own dentist. Sigh. So I could relate. I don't know what to say except I try to play more word games or puzzles to try to keep my brain more active. I am getting to around mid 40s. I hope to eat better and be more active and get enough sleep to help slow the fogginess. I hope someday I can go back down to 50mg maintenance dose.

    Hi Jennifer

I've been on Sertraline for a while, started on 100, then after 6 mths was told to go down 25mg at a time till I got down to 50mg

The night sweats are one of the worst effects, but they should pass

I tried the others, fluoxetine, citalopram etc

but Sertraline seems to suit me better, they are a slow up take though

Try and push through and take each day at a time 😉

Hi Jennifer, I've had the night sweats but very early on and I hadn't noticed forgetfulness but before my mind was racing constantly so there was never a risk of forgetting anything! I don't want to sound flippant because we are all different but can you make lists to help you remember or set some reminders in your phone ? Is the forgetfulness really bad or could it be that your more relaxed ? if your moods good stick with it and try and find a way of working with it, obviously if you think that the level of forgetfulness is abnormal then I'm sure your doc could recommend something different. I'm also 35 and on 100mg but asked for a higher dose today as I feel some of the anxiety creeping back I over the past 4 weeks no where near the levels before but i could not go back to how I was and the thought of the panic and anxiety coming back horrifies me. I look forward to hearing how you get on and what you decide to do xxx
