What brand to use/ How to Use aqueous ointment for vulvar washing

Hi everyone! Thanks to all who have engaged with my posts and everyone who has contributed to this forum in general as it has been literally a life saver with my new diagnosis of LS. I know my vagina is self cleaning but i  used to wash with summer’s eve for the vulvar area. When I got my diagnosis with LS I immediately stopped and switched to just warm water but I’m finding that it doesn’t give me the super clean feeling I want. I saw a few people say they use aqueous products to wash by putting it on before and it emulsifies to a soapy consistency. I had some aquaphor lying around so I tried it out on my hand before I attempted it on my vulva and it didn’t really seem to emulsify. In fact, I had to use regular hand soap to get rid of the greasy feeling on my skin. So my questions are: what brands in the US are you using as an aqueous wash? And does it always leave a greasy consistency or does it actually turn soapy and rinse away clean? Thanks!

I use “Cera-ve” wash/soap  as recommended by my dermatologist and gynecologist. Cetaphil is also good. Then I apply aquafor as a moisturizer.

    Hi Alyshia

I know what you mean about not really feeling ' clean' with just water! I use a soap called Dove sensitive. I find this to be the best for me. Not sure if it's sold in the states. I'm in the UK.

I always put a fine layer of vaseline with a bit of tea tree added, on afterwards. Helps keep the itch at bay or minimal and I'm sure it's helping with the slow onset of fusing. I've never used steroid and not about to start. Good luck with finding something to suit you. xx

Hi, I use emu soap, or soap without perfume because I don't think it does any harm, bearing in mind its on and off your skin in seconds and like yourself, I don't feel like water on its own will clean your Vjay enough.  When you think we are putting Clob cream on our Vjay which is like 100 times the strength of most hydrocortisone creams then it puts the tiny bit of soap we use into perspective.
