I think they didnt do ECG cause they knew what it was if they thought it was heart related they would have defo done one...Your not on your own Lilly, you will believe now that know one understands you if it is anxiety/panic,its taken me literally 15 yrs after PTSD to work out what anxiety is truly about, its a word banded about these days.but to truely understand it....when I get panic its like my chest is in some huge vice been tightened with two knuckles/stillettoes been crushed very hard against the heart/chest/ribs,its physically painful pins and needles hands and feet sometimes numb head, muscle spasms/palpatations,at first I thought I was literally dying,I rang 999 for an ambulance..it is properly SCARY stuff. Now I'm aware its not now even with the sympoms.i've been on medication for CVS and PTSD panic disorder,I first tried EMDR and then talking therapies also CBT.Ive taken many meds from low dose anti psychotics to anti Dep's cet...they either didnt work or they gave terrible side effects,Ive been taking Diazipam for the last 18 months as soon as I feel panic I take some and within 2 mins its totally gone although I would say these medications are only as a last resort after trying other methods I mentioned earier but they work for me.when I'm in panic mode my blood pressure shoots up,I have a BP moniter at home and I can see my heart making irrythmic beats and BP rising in real time its mad....then returns to nomal after meds,I was diagnosed with GAD it was 10yrs after that I started with panic disorder after a relationship with my brother and girlfriend suddenly ended within wks of eachother,Have you got extra stufff your worrying about at the moment,I could be wrong but i see myself in you before I was truely aware, its not phyical.its not heart problem its fight or flight kicking in.Im not a doc,but read as much as poss about anxiety/panic massively under estimated and misunderstood condition.I'm still learning after 2 decades of it,regulary seeing doctor and psychiatrst.you said you got/had low potassium which when very low can be very dangerous on your heart,After my vomiting episodes mine use to get so low I have to be admitted to get re fuelled, anyroad I wish you the best Lilly in your journey and hope you find some answers soon,I'm sure you will
try this for now, distraction techique when feeling anxious/panic
1.descibe 5 things you can see in your room.
2.name 4 things you can feel (feet on floor cet.)
3.name 3 sounds you can hear.
4.name 2 things you can smell.
5.think of 1 good/posative thing about yourself,
concentrate think VERY VERY hard use your senses experience each smell touch vision cet to the MAX.....dont just scim over it...good luck you,

thank you so much for this long reply you made me feel so okay and made me less worried about what i feel day to day thank you.. i hate how long you have been dealing with this and its still a struggle but you have things in front of you that help and will continue to help you to live a life everyday.. it takes a lot of work to get back to "normal life" but its possible and for how long you struggled and keep fighting is a motivation its truly hard to believe what i feel everyday is anxiety related but i know it is but my mind tells me different i try and fight everyday i pray everyday for a better life and to live like a 19 year old should im starting my intense therapy monday thank god its a monday-friday program for therapy i hope this helps me i hope to be back on my feet soon... and everytime i go to the doctor my blood pressure is normal also 117/75 or 120/85 always normal and when i was at the ER the doctor listened to my heart beat and said it should beautiful and is beating how its supposed too thats why i thought if he was worried about it they would off checked ASAP instead of just telling me to relax and its just anxiety its just weird how it starts to race when i get up but also i noticed its the worse when i know i need to leave my comfort zone so thats another sign of anxiety and i tried those techiques you listened before! they do help again thank you so much for your reply you really did calm my nerves and i hope all is good for you!

Hi Lilly,
I had labyrithitis which caused me some of these symptoms. I would get dizzy and my heart could race. It would cause dizziness on moving around etc . basically, your balance is controlled by the labyrinth in your ear. When it's affected we feel dizzy. Also, the body tries to make us balanced again and adrenaline gets released that I believe sets off our heart racing. I got the symptoms re recurring and had a bad bout where I was falling to the side and my heart would race too. The only thing that came back on my blood test was low b12 and my symptoms went after taking b12 a while.
I think the hard bit is when you have anxiety and you have such symptoms for people not to put it down to anxiety. I have cardiac arrhythmia and didn't know this so one time when I was younger I was so scared that something massively was wrong when my heart started racing and I felt really weird that I went to the emergency hospital and was told it was a panic attack. So, it was seen as anxiety and I had this very scary time for about 6 months. The symptoms went when I became pregnant (no idea why) and I was only told 4 years later that I had cardiac arrhythmia. I still get the heart racing occasionally but am not afraid of it as it's positional most of the time which means I can manage it by changing my position, breathing really deeply or sometimes even coughing hard. I'm not saying you have this or labyrinthitis (virus that attacks the inner ear) just I had these symptoms an know how scary it is and that in my case there really wasn't anything seriously wrong and that was 22 years ago for me.
Would also like to add that caffeine didn't help and ended up making my heart really race and giving it up really helped. Best advice I got from any professional was that the heart is a muscle and it is programmed to pump quickly sometimes (like when you're running) and that these increases in speed don't harm it.
Hope that helps
Beverley
