What could this be?? Photos included

Hello, I've developed bumps/spots on my wrist, where I have a month old fully healed tattoo which are extremely itchy, raised and red.

I have spoke to my tattoo artist and have a doctor's appointment booked in a couple of days time but wondered if anybody knew what this could be?

It seems to be getting worse and spreading as it only started with a few small bumps.

The fact it is on my tattoo could be a coincidence, I have no other allergies and have not used any new products or creams.

It could be an allergy to the pigment thats been used. They often appear months and even years after the tattoo has healed. The bumps are following the lines of the tattoo, so that could be the answer.

Thanks so much! I went to see my Dr who asked me if I went to a reputable tattoo artist (which I did) and put me on antibiotics for a week which I was a little hesitant to take as I dont underatand the connection between an allergy and antibiotic?

I'm guessing your doctor is treating an infection first and if the medication doesnt work then he will treat an allergy. If it spreads or gets out of control or you feel ill then do go back to your doctor ASAP. It wont do any harm to take the antibiotic, there may be an element of infection there. Make sure you tell your tattooist after it all clears, especially if you intend to have any more tattoos. That also applies if you go to another tattooist. It is in their interest as well as yours. They dont want unhappy customers.
