What do I drink now?

When I first stopped drinking, exactly a week ago, I said to my friend, 'But what will I drink now?' , like I'd forgotten all the other liquids that exist in the world that did not contain alcohol.

She said (as someone who stopped successfully 2 years ago) EAT. Then:

- Iced tea or drinks mixed with fruit

- Diet coke - caffeine free

- Water

- Coffee and tea

When out socialising:

- Alcohol free beer

- Mocktails

- Soda and lime

Now experimenting with various flavours to excite my pallate. It keeps me out of trouble and it's productive.

I've tried some of the beers and they ain't that bad.

About to embark on a discover of NA wine too. There are 3 main manufacturers in the US and many reviews to read.

I know there are differing thoughts on whether you should stimulate those receptors to 'faux' products and that perhaps they just become so unsatifying that you turn to the real thing. My early experiences are pretty good..the beers are a vast improvement on NA beers from the past. When I was in the aptmosphere of a bar with dancing, drinking the beer, I felt as though I was a little drunk, but I was just dancing and actually enjoying myself. Drove home. Slept well. Woke up feeling bright and haven't enjoyed a Sunday as much in ages.

The future is bright. The future does not contain hangovers.

Well done! I too have difficulty finding drinks that I like, especially to accompany a meal. My tipple is red wine, but I really disliked the alcohol free red wines I found. I'm not a beer drinker, so haven't tried AF beer. But you're right, it is possible to enjoy nights out sober, I really like going to bed sober and waking up feeling good. I have diet decaff cola in the house, but can't seem to get it in pubs.

    Keep it up!

Oh, and I find mocktails are too sweet. Blackcurrant and soda is nice.
