What do you eat in an IBS flare?

following on from my earlier post - still having a terrible time unless I take immodium or cocodamol several times a day. normal diet goes through me, plain foods also go through me. tried no fruit or veg for 4 days and no better. What does everyone else eat when things are bad?

bland, bland, bland and are sure it's just a flare up? would 111 advice help? ate you stressed out, if so why? lots of people have ibs and diarrhoea on here, they eill help you. try bland toast maybe, you could forget food temporarily and have liquids, maybe not milk, clear liquids? good luck, it doesn't sound like much fun. why the medicine for pain or diarrhoea?

hi leeniepie. most GP's aren't taking patients physically but if you're in absolute agony and can't cope then ring for an appointment and ask to speak to someone, if you need to be seen they'll send you a specific time slot. you look after you, being stressed etc won't help at all. if you really can't get hold of anyone speak to the chemist! i wish you luck doesn't sound like much fun...

You can try taking probiotic supplements if you have been facing these problems for a while. Ask your doctor if they would help as it has had a very positive effect on my cousin. For food, try to be as light as possible. Maybe a few fruits and water. That usually works for my cousin.

hi leeniepie, how did you get on with booking a doctor's phonecall? i only ask as i think i have a sinus infection and when i rang my doctor's they put me down for a phonecall, the doctor rang me back and sent the medication to my chemist today. if you ring if you're in agony they can't ignore it, coronavirus or not ordinary life is still going on. look after you and good luck. x

Hi Leeniepie/How much pain are you getting as co-codamol is quite strong .Are you taken 10/500 or 30/500. I would suggest that you go onto a web site called The ibs Network. They will have most answer to your problems.I would also agree that if you are not getting help from doctor ,then pharmacist can be better as they had to learn all about all medication
