What does LP look like on the vulva?

I'm wondering if anyone could describe or explain how LP displays itself on the vulva?

I've noticed really tiny white spots on my labia minora. There's no lacy pattern to it just small white spots. They don't feel raised. Is this LS and do these spots eventually join up to form a larger patch? I'm on Advantan. Why am I using a steroid if the LS will progress regardless of treatment or should proper treatment stop this? I just feel so frustrated.

Thanks.

I don't know the answer but hang in there.   I know it is frustrating and hopefully they are trying to figure out a better way to deal with it.

I use Advantan fatty ointment too. It is actually a good choice because it is not as potent as some others. The ointment is more readily absorbed than the cream. It is the white patches and also the feel of some skin especially around the anus. I use touch to apply the ointment and feel for itchy patches as well as identifying the white dots that have no itch or roughness. Keeping on top,of the white bits is important to stop them spreading. It is not supposed to go into the vagina but keep an eye on that area with a mirror to make sure everything looks normal. If controlled with the ointment there is no threat of cancer and having really good specialists looking after you as well protects you.

Your right Kathleen, it isn't as potent. It's the next class down from Clob. I just wonder is it enough to keep LS at bay? It's considered potent but not ultra potent. How often do you use the Advantan? My doctor told me to apply it every day before bed for 2 months and she's extended to another month till I see her in July.

You mention the feel of the skin especially around the anus. What should I be feeling for?

I have rough skin around the back but not in the front. So, I check for a roughness, an area that might be a bit itchy, and look for white spots. Basically, I have a fairly large area to cover from front to back. I use about a third of a teaspoon at least to cover it well. It is potent enough and allows you to be less concerned with thinning of the skin. It is important you use enough. I think some people skimp and then it is not addressed properly. I use it nearly every night. I can take a night or two off during the week but I sometimes think that is not a good idea as you do not want it to get away from you.

Hi Dani. If you go to various med web sites and search for images you might find some helpful, don't be put off by some of the pics .Remember often those cases that stand out or show various degrees of difference seem to get recorded so don't frighten yourself .I don't know how old you are but being born in the 1950's women certainly didn't know anything about their bodies or dare ask.Only in the late 70's did female issues start to get addressed in avant garde magazines and LP and Ls were certainly not addressed in the ones I read. The old image of the 70,s mags squatting with a mirror to see yourself sounded absolutely horrific and embarrassing I hope things have changed now.At school you now learn about planets millions of miles away and quantum physics but nothing about parts of your body not 10 inches away from your navel!Good luck and keep searching for answers .Some of the images help .They used to say ignorance is bliss it's certainly not the case with LP and OLp and I'm still learning like you.keep in touch. I don't know the difference between the appearance of LS and LP. I was diagnosed a few years ago with LP on my scalp. Was diagnosed by mt dermatologist who did a biopsy. That episode eventually resolved. I have now been diagnosed with LS but my dr has not wanted to do a biopsy. He said he is confident due to my classic symptoms and appearance. I told him about the LP. He said this is not LP.

I would very much be interested in hearing

-what the differences are in symptoms and appearance of LP and LS in vaginal area

-differences in how these conditions are treated
