What has helped me

I was diagnosed with ETD in Feb of 2017. I was diagnosed with allergies and TMJD in March 2017. I started TMJD treatment a couple of months later and I started allergy shots in September 2017. My ears improved with the TMJD treatment (mouth guard and physical therapy). I was taking Zyrtec, Azelastine, Xhance (prescription flonase), singulair supplements of quercetin with bromelain. All of this made a big difference and I went from miserable to about 80% normal most days.

I started having heart palpitations in December 2018 and was referred to a cardiologist. He ran numerous tests that came back fine so he referred me to sleep medicine for possible obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). I had a sleep study and received my cpap machine about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Even though my ears were pretty good during the day I was still waking up every morning with partially blocked ears that popped and crackled until my allergy meds kicked in and I was up and moving. I woke up the first morning after using the CPAP and my ears were clear. 2 1/2 years of waking up with annoying ears and they were clear! Second, third, fourth morning...... clear ears. I am still waking up with clear ears and they have improved during the day to 90/95% normal. I have been able to cut out my two nasal sprays and so far so good.

So if you have any symptoms of OSA check with your doctor! I googled sleep apnea and ETD and there is a connection that I didn't know about.
