What is causing my pain?

I have been having very bad headaches the last few months and am trying to figure out what the cause is. I have seen a few doctors, and they now say it is coming from my jaw. The first doctor thought is was TMJ, and referred me to a specialist. That specialist said it was not the joint but my muscle. He was able to isolate the muscle and notice the spasm and extreme tightness. He has said heat and regular medicine should help, but I have been dealing with this pain for a long time and know that isnt the case. Does anyone have any ideas what might be going on?

But does the heat actually work, Rosie?? I have a similar issue as my circulation is poor. If I inadvertantly sit in a cool draft it's not long before I go into spasm. Furthermore, as the cooler temperature reaches the chest area I have chest pains to contend with too. The only thing that brings instant aid is heat (and hot drinks for the chest pain). If you don't have an infra-red heat lamp, you might consider getting one. Do ask your GP if poor circulation may be behind your issue. Perhaps a low dose of a drug used to control blood pressure by dilating the arteries/veins may help. Or Vitamin E. Good luck, and I hope you soon get to the bottom of whatever is causing you pain.

Thank you! That is an interesting connection to make. I have found that heat does it help it some, but it doesn't keep it away. I will definitely look into a possible circulation issue.
