What is this inflamed growth on my face near my eye?

I currently have a very inflamed red scabby bump next to my eyebrow and above my eye which seems to not be healing. It started off over a week and a half ago as what I thought was an acne spot so I tried to pop it (I know, I shouldn't have) which caused it to become a bit red and larger in size. The spot turned into more of a firm lump and developed a scab which rarely but occasionally leaks clear or yellow transparent fluid.

The lump has become bigger and is not healing at all, it is not painful and feels numb to touch and moves with my skin like a small round growth. It's very red in colour and I've seen no improvement at all since it appeared despite applying Germolene (anstiseptic ointment) daily. I spoke to my doctor who does not know what the lump could be but has prescribed me antibiotics to try, and if it does not improve then I have to go back.

I'm really sick of having it on my face as it's not going down at all and I have no idea what it is. It was suggested by someone that it may be a staph infection but its not painful and surely antiseptic cream would be helping if it was an infection?

I also had a sty and a chalazion appear at the same time but I'm unsure if this is related?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

It looks a bit like a granuloma which can appear at sites of injury...eg like ear piercing. Do you pluck your eyebrows? That may be how infection has entered your skin, and could account for the sty and chalazion as well . Always pluck eyebrows on freshly washed skin.

Your doctor is doing the right thing with the antibiotics but if it doesnt heal then you may need a biopsy to find out what sort of bug is in there or even exactly what the lesion could be and then he/she can give you more tailored drugs to suit .

Germolene will not be of any use if its an unusual bug or not an infection at all, but it may help to soothe.

Do not hesitate to go back to your doctor if it doesnt clear with the drugs he has given you. There are many skin lesions that this resembles and it needs to be sorted. On no account pick at it or you may be left with a scar.
