Hi Dee, so, to be sure, you are the one that knows your penis best. So maybe you need to describe what you see as being different to what it used to be like?

What I can see that may be different to what you had before is perhaps some redness. You look like you have some dry skin, you may have some pimples, or see them as small spots that were not there before. Does any or all of this 'fit' with what you see?

More questions: do you use soap and / or shower gels and lotions to wash your penis with? Do you put Lube of any kind on your penis? If your penis is becoming irritated this can be caused by something as seemingly innocuous as Baby Oil / Lotion, skin cream or lotion, any oil based lubes. Once the head and / or foreskin of a penis becomes susceptible to irritation then basically anything that is chemical based can be causing this kind of effect.

To help the skin of the head of your penis to become heathy again you need to exclude ALL chemicals from contacting the sensitive skin, and you need to do this for at least 2 or 3 months to see whether your skin can recover from this .......

Thanks for the response! I always had fordyce spots on the back of my penis head and pearly penile papules since I could remember. The picture taken was less than 10 minutes out of the shower. Today I didn’t use any soap or moisturizers on the head of my penis. Yesterday I took a hot shower, and as usual I pulled my foreskin back and put soap (dove sensitive soap) on the head of my penis to clean it. Once I got out of the shower, I noticed the difference in my penis head, which freaked me out completely. I noticed the dryness look with the spots around the head, and some of the redness. but it doesn’t look normal to me. I’m in a monogamous relationship but that doesn’t mean my partner is faithful. I just want things to be normal. I’m going to avoid chemicals and soaps when dealing with the head of my penis.

There is no such thing as 'a safe soap' - so best approach is water only, use the inside of the hand to rub your penile skin gently, the other essential is to pat dry the skin completely using a clean towel that only you use. If you have not seen my full guide on what to do for Men with penile skin issues I am posting that below. Read through it carefully as it may bring to mind other stuff that you are doing on a regular basis that is not being helpful to the skin of your penis.

What you need to do is put the good practices in place for at least 10 to 12 weeks before you see any real difference. You say about your relationship, if you regularly use condoms these can be really bad news when your skin is like this - if you have no alternative to using condoms then it is about minimising exposure to them. Finish off and remove immediately, then rinse the whole of your penis with plenty of water and dry thoroughly. Let me know how you are getting on in 2 or 3 months time by updating your Forum Thread. Here is my guide .......

      .

Penile Hygiene Regime to Combat Specific Problems

      .

The best approach is not to use ANY SOAP on the Glans / Head of your penis - wash with water only EVERY time you have urinated, after sexual arousal, and ejaculation. If you are not circumcised, protect the Glans of your penis every time you take a shower by drawing the foreskin as far forward as you can, then wash everywhere else, thoroughly rinse off all the gels / shampoo and suchlike, then expose your glans wash it with the water only using the inside of your hand, then each time you have washed it you must make sure to 100% pat dry immediately afterwards with a towel.

      .

After you have put this in place and you still have the situation going on you need to look at what else your penis is coming into contact with on a fairly regular basis.  The likely suspects are:-

      • any chemical compounds such as skin cream / lotions, baby oil, oil based lubes, chemicals inside condoms (e.g. easy-on and spermicides) you need to exclude these one by one to discover the culprit, the easiest approach is to exclude everything to start with, then once things are on the mend, introduce each individual item to discover what has caused this in the first place.
      • if non of these make any difference you need to look to things such as washing powder in which you wash your clothes, and underwear in, in particular.  The simple alternative to washing powder is Liquid Soap Flakes, most sizeable supermarkets stock this in their own brand names - and you use this in your washing machine instead of powders or ANY fabric conditioner type additives.

If all this produces no resolution to what you have, or your condition dramatically worsens, seek medical advice from your regular Doctor - but please note, many do not fully understand the differences between the potential skin conditions you may potentially have.  Therefore, the better course of action may be to see a Dermatologist, or alternatively, go to a Specialist Sexual Health Service and ask to see the duty Urologist.

Hey! Thanks for everything! i went to see a dermatologist yesterday and was examined. was told it was balanitis. like yourself, she told me to stay away from soaps, etc. She also prescribed some medicine for it. today is day 3 and its the same, no itching or no pain whatsoever. picking up my medication from the pharmacy later

Thanks for the update - let me know what the medication is - you can do this after you have been using it for 5 to 7 days, that would be more useful for me to know how you are getting on ....

hey! pardon me on the late response @Wee_Dugie but the dermatologist gave me clobetasol propionate cream. cleared everything up and now im back to normal. im still avoiding soap on my penis head while showering, just to keep things safe

@Wee_Dugie day 2 and its the same. seem as though the skin is dried out because of the dry patches. it doesn't hurt or anything. wonder what it could be? was tempted to moisturize it with coconut oil or shea butter, but decided to stick with the routine

Thanks for the replies. What you need to do is to keep as much of my Protocol in place for at least 6 months - only then can you judge whether the problematic skin has been able to recover. So, you must avoid shea butter, that is for sure - if you feel you need to moisturise the skin on the main shaft of your penis you could try a light application of the Coconut Oil - but you must keep this away from the head and foreskin area of your penis.

The other essential to avoid, if you can, is not to use condoms if you happen to be a regular user?

ALSO, can you tell me how the dried skin / patches are looking now? My fear is that you may be developing a skin condition - so you must follow what the Dermatologist has said you should do - getting the application of the Clobetasol just right is the essential element. You need to massage it in, rather than simply apply it - the frequency of application is also critical to the successful impact of it. Typical application would be everyday for two weeks, then every other day for two weeks. Have you been told something different to this? Have you been asked to go back to see the Dermatologist after a certain period of weeks?
